Toronto Bridge

Toronto Bridge is a fixed prosthesis used to replace an entire arch of teeth . It's a complete denture with a flange (or, if you prefer, a false gum), which can replace up to 12 teeth per arch. It's secured with abutments to titanium dental implants using the immediate-load implant technique or, in more traditional dentistry, a delayed-load implant procedure. Its main feature is that it requires fewer implants than the number of teeth to be replaced, similar to all-on-four systems, where the denture is anchored to four implants.

Why is it called Toronto Bridge ?

The Toronto Bridge prosthesis takes its name from the Canadian city of Toronto where this new technique was presented in 1982, during the World Dental Congress, as a result of dental research by the Swedish school of implantology whose main exponent is Dr. Branemark .

From the 1980s to today, there have been continuous developments and innovative research that have improved the efficiency and practicality of the Toronto Bridge prosthesis.

Which patient is suitable for the Toronto Bridge?

Generally speaking, all patients with good bone can undergo surgery to apply a Toronto Bridge fixed prosthesis. However, the implantologist will evaluate whether a specific patient is suitable for a Toronto Bridge prosthesis.

The Toronto Bridge prosthesis is one of the best solutions for overcoming removable dentures , because being anchored to the osseointegrated implants, the patient will have no sensation of mobility, regaining security and confidence in every aspect of their daily life.
